Saturday, March 13 SCOR Solvang Century & Half-Century Bike Ride Sponsored by SCOR, net proceeds to charity. 5,000+ amateur cyclists begin and end their 50 or 100-mile ride at new location of Alisal Guest Ranch/River Course, 150 Alisal Road, Solvang. Ride starts at 6am with staggered departures. The 100 mile ride is a loop course to Lompoc, Vandenberg, Santa Maria and back through Los Olivos to Solvang. Saturday, March 13 Sedgwick Reserve presents Nature Hikes Three guided interpretive hikes of varying degrees of difficulty ranging from easy to strenuous--all approximately 3 hours each--will start at 8:30am at the Reserve located at 3566 Brinkerhoff Avenue in Santa Ynez. This beautiful 5,000+ acre Reserve is a protected ecological enviornment under the auspicies of the University of California. Reservations are required to participate in any of the hikes. Saturday, May 1 Santa Inés Mission Mills Volunteer Day in Solvang- The public is invited to lend a hand at the Santa Inés Mission Mills complex in Solvang and learn about the history of this historic site and future home of a new State Historic Park. The 39 acres of land, adjacent to Old Mission Santa Inés at 1740 Mission Drive in Solvang, is part of the Mission Santa Inés National Historic Landmark District and includes a grist mill and a fulling mill. Volunteer opportunities include: olive tree planting, light gardening and more! Weather permitting from 10:00 am-3:00 pm (guided tour offered at Noon). Volunteers requested to meet and park at the Santa Barbara Bank & Trust rear parking lot at 2010 Mission Drive. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Hat, sunglasses and gardening gloves are advised.
